Subject Re: SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB Solid State USB-Flash-Laufwerk USB 3.1

Hi, if you want a fast, removable USB flash drive I recommend the Extreme Pro 3.1. I have 5 SanDisk Extremes and never had a problem using them as E2B drives in over 5 years.
All MLC Flash memory wears out and has a limited number of erase/write cycles of about 30,000. Unlike SSDs, flash drives don't tend to have expensive controllers which fully handle wear leveling, so it all comes down to how you are going to use the drive.
As a USB multiboot drive, booting to Linux LiveCD ISOs or WinPE is not going to do many writes to the drive. However, if you intend to run WindowsToGo or Linux from the Flash drive all day and every day and have a swap file on the drive and hyberfile, then you will probably wear it out after a year or so.
SanDisk cannot give a 3-5yr Warranty if you use a drive in this way (so just don't tell them!).
